About me

A little background.

Seven years in the IT field, most of it on the backend side.

Hi, I’m Purushottam Kunwar. I’m a software developer with around seven years of experience in the IT field, mainly focused on backend development. I’ve worked with technologies like PHP, Laravel, Node.js, Java, Python, and databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Over the years, I’ve worked on different kinds of applications, including financial systems, APIs, and large business applications. I’m especially comfortable with Laravel, API development, database design, debugging, and writing maintainable backend code.

At this stage, I’m looking for a role where I can use my experience, continue improving my technical skills, and contribute to a strong development team. I’m available to join a new position immediately.

Selected work

Six systems, closely observed.

What the system does, and which parts of it were mine.

White-Label Loyalty Platform

FleetPro customer rewards

FleetPro’s customer rewards program — a configurable engine the business can run new promotions on without waiting for a release.

  • Designed a configurable rewards engine — point earning and redemption, coupon management, and rule-based campaigns — so the business could launch new promotions through configuration rather than a new backend release.
  • Built admin-facing APIs and customer-activity tracking, giving non-technical staff visibility into campaign performance and direct control over program rules.

FleetPro

Commercial truck sales, service & fleet operations

One system for a commercial truck business — sales, service, parts, rentals, and financing across multiple locations, in place of per-site processes.

  • Built modular backend functionality for truck sales, service, parts, rentals, and financing across multiple business locations, giving the business one consistent system instead of per-site processes.
  • Designed status-based workflows and validation rules for vehicle, customer, and service data, reducing data-entry inconsistency and making operational reporting reliable enough for management to act on directly.

Skills Transfers

Multi-tenant e-learning platform

A learning platform serving several institutional clients from a single codebase, with each tenant’s data strictly isolated from the rest.

  • Designed a multi-tenant backend with strict tenant data isolation and OAuth2 SSO, letting the platform serve multiple institutional clients securely from a single codebase and reducing onboarding friction for enterprise tenants.
  • Delivered subscriptions, role-based access control, certificate issuance, and SCORM-compliant content delivery, supporting the platform’s core credentialing and compliance-training business for learners, instructors, and admins.

Enterprise SSO Gateway

Identity & access management

A centralized authentication service I built to provide single sign-on across internal and client-facing applications.

  • Implemented OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code Flow with PKCE and SAML federation, reducing the number of places user credentials were handled and giving every internal and client application a consistent security posture.
  • Handled JWT token issuance, rotation, and session invalidation, limiting the exposure window if a token was ever compromised and making logout actually terminate access instead of leaving stale tokens valid.

Waste Management Platform

Municipal waste operations

Municipal waste operations pulled into one interface — collection status, reports, work plans, and map data that previously lived in separate places.

  • Built REST APIs in Python and Django that consolidated collection status, operational reports, work plans, and map-based data from multiple sources into a single, structured interface for the frontend.
  • Integrated Power BI and other data sources into the backend, giving municipal operations staff a consistent, up-to-date view of collection activity instead of disconnected reports.

MacFixHubs

Device repair operations platform

A repair-shop platform I build and maintain on my own: estimates, service tracking, and a public ticket lookup customers can use without an account.

  • Built repair-estimate and service-tracking workflows with configurable device, problem, and pricing catalogs, plus a public repair-ticket lookup flow.
  • Implemented ticket-status transitions and public timeline events so customers could track repairs without admin access.

Backend Developer · Azminds Pvt. Ltd.

Progressed from Assistant Software Engineer

Backend engineer at a product-development consultancy, responsible for delivering maintainable, production-ready PHP/Laravel systems across fleet operations, e-learning, and loyalty platforms. I regularly owned backend features end to end — schema design, API contracts, background processing, testing, and CI/CD — and contributed backend work in Java, Python, and Node.js when client stacks required it. I worked closely with frontend, QA, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable production features.

On a project

The parts I usually own.

Whatever the domain is, this is where my work tends to sit.

  1. 01

    API contracts & business logic

REST endpoints, validation, and the status-based workflows that decide what a record is allowed to do next.

  2. 02

    Schema & data modeling

PostgreSQL and MySQL schemas, migrations, relationships, and the queries that keep them fast as tables grow.

  3. 03

    Background work & delivery

Redis queues, scheduled jobs, and third-party integrations kept off the request path — with Pest tests and CI/CD behind them.
